The company was founded in 1978 by Fongaro Leone. Originally called "Conceria Leon", then changed to "Conceria Nuova Leon" by his sons.

The story of Conceria Leon began in Chiampo valley with the production of splits for clothing. In the following years it specialized in the production of suede splits for footwear.
